Instead of a rolled bud or a flat button, the heart of the flower is a raised dome of fine sola strands cut and packed together, each strand ending in a tiny tip, so the centre resembles a cluster of stamens or a soft pom-pom.
Around this dome, two tiers of broad, pointed petals open out. The inner petals cup slightly upward while the outer petals lie flatter, creating a layered star shape.
