FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Products, ordering, samples, quality, customisation, export and care — answers for wholesale and trade buyers.

Products & materials

What does Floral Mongers supply?

Ten catalogue categories: sola flowers, exotic botanicals, potpourri, dried leaves, dried grasses, bamboo and natural sticks, cane, mixed natural items, handmade natural décor and bouquets. Every product has a catalogue code.

What are sola flowers made of?

Sola flowers are handmade from sola pith, the soft core of the wetland plant Aeschynomene aspera. The pith is cut and shaped by hand into petals and flowers, and can be supplied natural, bleached or dyed.

What is the difference between natural, bleached and dyed?

Natural keeps the material’s own tone. Bleached gives a lighter, more uniform base. Dyed adds colour to your reference. Each product page states which finishes apply.

Do natural products vary?

Yes. Size, shape, texture and tone vary naturally between pieces, and handmade items vary slightly in form. Grading and an approved sample control what can be controlled.

How do I find a product by code?

Type the code (for example SO31) into the search. An exact code match takes you straight to the product.

Ordering & quotations

Who do you sell to?

Commercial buyers: importers, distributors, wholesalers, florists, event companies, décor and interior businesses, retailers, e-commerce sellers, craft suppliers, gift companies, fragrance brands and product developers.

How do I request a quotation?

Add products to your RFQ with “Add to RFQ”, then submit the Request a Quote form with quantities, specifications and destination. You can also add products manually by code.

What is the minimum order quantity?

MOQs depend on the product, finish and packing. They are confirmed in your quotation.

Why are prices not shown?

Prices depend on specification, grade, quantity, packing and destination, so every order is quoted individually.

What payment terms do you accept?

Export payment options include LC or SBLC, full or partial advance by TT, or 50% advance with the balance against documents. Terms are agreed in each quotation and depend on order volume.

What lead times should I expect?

Lead times depend on the products, quantities, customisation and season. They are confirmed in your quotation.

Samples & quality

Can I get samples?

Yes. Samples can be requested from any product page or the Request a Sample page. Availability, any charges and courier arrangements are confirmed per request.

What grades are available?

Premium (uniform size and colour, minimal breakage), Select (slight natural variation) and Economy (more variation, cost-effective for bulk). Custom grading is available on request.

How is quality checked?

Products are checked before packing against the order specification and approved sample: form, size range, finish, colour, dryness, counts and packing.

Can I arrange my own inspection?

Yes. If you appoint a third-party inspection agency, access to goods before dispatch can be coordinated. Pre-shipment photos can also be requested.

Customisation & private label

Can products be customised?

Colour, finish, size and grade, stem configuration, assortments, pack counts, packaging and private label can be discussed for commercial quantities. See Custom Development.

Can you match my colours?

We dye to your reference and you approve the shade on a sample. Natural materials take dye individually, so production is matched to the approved sample within natural variation.

Do you offer private-label packing?

Yes, on request. Share your artwork, barcodes and labelling requirements with your enquiry.

Export & shipping

Do you export?

Yes. Export packing, documentation and shipping coordination are handled through International Mongers, Kolkata. Destination requirements are confirmed with each quotation.

Which shipping modes are available?

Sea freight (shared or full containers) for bulk, air freight for urgent or lighter consignments, and courier for samples.

Which documents do you provide?

Commercial invoice, packing list and transport document for every shipment, plus certificate of origin, phytosanitary or treatment certificates where your destination requires them.

How are products protected in transit?

Products are packed dry in export cartons with inner protection suited to their shape, and poly liners and desiccants where suitable, to limit crushing and humidity damage.

Care & storage

How should dried products be stored?

Unpack promptly, store in a dry, ventilated place off the floor, and keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to limit fading.

Can sola flowers be used with fragrance oils?

Yes. Sola pith absorbs fragrance oils, which is why sola flowers are widely used as diffuser flowers. Test your oil on a sample, as oils can change tone.
