The Eclipse name comes from the contrast built into every ball. Dark grey-brown vine strands and pale, cane-coloured strands are wound together in a loose crisscross, so light and dark lines overlap across the surface like shadow falling over a lit sphere.
HM05 is handmade from lata (vine) and supplied without a stick. The image shows a group of balls, each with a slightly different balance of dark and light strands and an open weave that lets you see into the centre. That irregularity is part of the appeal and keeps a bowl of them from looking uniform.
The two-tone look bridges warm and cool palettes, making these balls easy to place in both rustic and contemporary interiors. They are widely used as fillers for bowls, trays, lanterns and glass jars, as accents on shelves and dining tables, and in autumn and winter displays with pine cones and dried leaves. Natural variation
As each ball is wound by hand, the ratio of dark to pale strands, weave openness and roundness differ from piece to piece, and the natural vine varies in tone. These are natural characteristics of handmade and botanical products, not defects; shade, size and grade are confirmed on sample approval.
