Hogla is the Bengali trade name for the elephant-grass or cattail spike that grows along wetland edges in eastern India. Each stem ends in a firm, cigar-shaped head with a soft, suede-like surface in warm cinnamon brown, finished by a thin pointed tip above it. Below the head, the stalk is smooth, straight and straw-coloured, so every piece reads as a crisp vertical accent.
The photograph shows a bunch tied near the top of the stalks, with the brown heads sitting at slightly different heights. That staggered effect is what florists look for: gathered in a tall floor vase, Hogla gives height and rhythm without visual clutter, and it pairs naturally with pampas, palm spears, dried grasses and bleached botanicals.
Floral Mongers supplies Hogla as a naturally dried stem product, bunched for trade buyers. As a dry flower exporter from India, we pack the stems long and straight so the velvety heads arrive intact and ready to use in décor, retail bunches or event styling.

Natural variation
As a wild-harvested botanical, each Hogla head differs slightly in length, thickness and brown tone, and stalks vary in straightness and colour. These natural differences are expected and give bunches a relaxed, natural look. These are natural characteristics of handmade and botanical products, not defects; shade, size and grade are confirmed on sample approval.
Care & storage
- Keep in a dry, well-ventilated place away from humidity
- Avoid direct sunlight to slow fading of the brown heads
- Handle by the stalk, not the velvety head, to prevent shedding
- Dust gently with a soft brush or cool air from a hair-dryer
