Two distinct parts make up this flower. The outer ruff is formed from many short, flat, square-ended strips of ivory sola, folded outwards in dense layers so the head looks full and slightly shaggy. At the heart sits a tightly coiled rose-style centre whose petals are edged in brown, creating concentric brown rings that draw the eye to the middle.
The name refers to the kadom (kadam) flower, whose round, full form inspires the shape, while “centre brown” describes the contrasting core. The back of the head shows a neat, rolled sola base, as seen in the product images, where the flowers are also displayed on a timber stand and in a small cluster on hessian.
SO08 is handmade from natural sola (shola) pith. The brown edging comes from the sola skin retained on the centre petals, so the two-tone look is part of the material itself. The head is supplied without a stem and can be wired, glued or fitted to a stick as needed.
