Tightly packed, short petals give SO30 the rounded, pompom fullness of a marigold. Each petal is small, flat and cut square with slightly rounded corners, and they are layered in dense, overlapping rows that spiral inward to a crinkled, ruffled heart. From the side, the flower rises into a soft dome, as the angled product images show.
The colour is natural ivory, so the familiar marigold shape appears in a calm, neutral tone that fits contemporary interiors as well as traditional settings. Close-ups reveal the fine fibre lines on every petal and the slightly irregular edges that come from hand cutting. The reverse has a flat, round sola disc with a small centre hole, useful for mounting on a stick or reed, and styled images show the flower in a wooden bowl, on stone and on hessian.
The marigold holds a central place in Indian celebrations, and SO30 offers a lasting, lightweight alternative for Diwali, wedding and puja décor, toran and garland work, and festive gifting. Handcrafted in India from sola (shola) pith, it also absorbs fragrance oils for diffuser use.
Floral Mongers supplies the sola marigold in bulk, in natural ivory or dyed to traditional saffron and yellow shades.

Natural variation
Each petal is cut and set by hand, so the density of the layers, the height of the dome and the ruffle of the centre vary slightly between flowers. Natural sola ranges from pale ivory to warm cream across batches. These are natural characteristics of handmade and botanical products, not defects; shade, size and grade are confirmed on sample approval.
Care & storage
- Keep dry and away from direct sunlight
- Hold by the base disc to protect the layered petals
- Dust with a cool air setting; a brush can catch between petals
- Store face-up in a rigid box with tissue
- Unpack promptly on arrival and let the pieces air in a dry room; avoid storing in sealed, humid packaging
