Long, tapering petals with fine drawn-out tips give the Sola Center Skin Gardenia SO71 a star-like outline that is noticeably more dramatic than a rounded gardenia. Several layers of these ivory petals open outward and slightly upward, and many finish in a narrow twisted point, which makes the flower look light and airy despite its size.
The name comes from the centre. Around a smooth, closed bud, the innermost petals are cut so that a thin band of brown sola skin remains along their edges, drawing a dark outline around the heart of the flower. In the photograph a small golden-toned detail also shows beside the bud, adding a warm accent against the cream pith.
Handmade from sola pith and otherwise left natural, this gardenia works as a feature bloom in shallow bowls, on gift boxes and in bridal or hospitality styling where one large head should carry the design.
