Colour gives the Bakuli pod a completely different personality. In the pictured shade, a smoky steel blue settles into the textured outer skin, while raised edges catch lighter, almost silvery highlights. The pods keep their natural split form, opening into curved, petal-like segments, and a few still carry a short, fine stalk.
The uneven take-up of dye on the woody surface creates a slightly weathered, painterly effect rather than a flat plastic look. That makes the pods useful wherever a designer wants colour but still wants the piece to read as a real botanical: coastal-themed interiors, blue and white table settings, winter décor or coloured potpourri mixes.
Floral Mongers dyes Bakuli in India and can supply other shades to match a buyer’s palette; the blue shown is one example rather than the only option. The product is available loose in bulk for potpourri producers, gift-pack makers and retailers, with packing chosen to protect the coloured finish during export.

Natural variation
Dye settles differently on each pod’s textured surface, so shade depth and highlights vary between pieces and between batches. Pod size and opening also vary naturally. These are natural characteristics of handmade and botanical products, not defects; shade, size and grade are confirmed on sample approval.
Care & storage
- Keep dry; moisture can cause dye to mark surfaces
- Display away from direct sunlight to limit colour fading
- Avoid contact with damp fabrics or light-coloured upholstery
- Dust lightly with a soft dry brush
