Long Leaf Coloured arrives as a flat stack rather than loose stems. Many long, narrow leaves are laid on top of one another and tied around the middle with thread, forming a neat oval bundle whose pointed tips feather out at one end and whose bases gather at the other.
The sample in the photograph is dyed a clear, saturated yellow that runs through every leaf, and the leaves have a thin, slightly translucent quality where they overlap. The feathered, jagged tips give the bundle a soft edge and hint at the fine vein structure underneath.
Craft makers separate the leaves to cut, layer or glue onto cards, frames, lampshades and gift boxes, while florists use them to add a flash of colour behind dried flowers or around wreath bases. Because the leaves lie flat, they also work well in collage-style wall décor and packaging inserts.
