Sola Fan is a handmade piece made from sola (shola) pith, the soft, spongy core of a wetland plant that has long been carved and shaped by craftspeople in Bengal. Several slender, pointed blades are cut from the pith, folded along their length and gathered together at the base, where they are tied with fine thread.
Once tied, the blades open out like a hand fan or a cluster of leaves. The photograph shows three fans in natural cream, two with a clean, pale surface and one slightly warmer, with a small twig-like base where the blades meet. The edges are smooth and gently curved, and the folds give each blade a soft ridge down the middle.
Because sola is light and absorbent, these fans suit reed diffusers and fragrance displays as well as dried arrangements. They are used on gift boxes and hampers, in wreaths, as corsage bases and table accents, and in craft kits.
As a sola flower manufacturer in India, Floral Mongers makes each fan by hand and supplies them in counted packs.

Natural variation
Each fan is cut, folded and tied by hand, so blade width, curve and spread differ slightly; the pith itself varies naturally from bright cream to a warmer ivory. These are natural characteristics of handmade and botanical products, not defects; shade, size and grade are confirmed on sample approval.
Care & storage
- Keep dry; sola pith absorbs moisture readily
- Store away from direct sunlight to limit yellowing
- Handle gently — the thin blades can crease or dent
- Suitable for adding fragrance oils for diffuser use
- Unpack promptly on arrival and let the pieces air in a dry room; avoid storing in sealed, humid packaging
