Ata is the Bengali name for the custard apple, and the Sola Ata Ball SO90 shares that fruit’s knobbly look. Its surface is made from short cylinders of sola, each cut from a hollow section so it shows an open ring at the end, and these are packed tightly over a round core with their open faces outward.
The photographs show a warm ivory with a faint blush tone and pinkish shading in places, and the holes in the cylinders create a dotted, honeycomb-like pattern across the ball. The pieces vary slightly in length and diameter, so the surface is pleasantly uneven. Gallery images show the balls on a wood slice, in a wooden bowl and grouped on linen beside dried flowers.
This is a textural filler with strong depth, well suited to rustic bowls, lantern bases, vase fillers and natural-themed hampers. The porous cylinders take fragrance oil readily. Floral Mongers supplies the Ata Ball as a bulk dry flower décor item, size-graded and packed in counted packs for wholesale and export.

Natural variation
Each cylinder is hand-cut, so length, diameter and the size of the open centre vary across the ball. The blush tone of the pith is natural and may be lighter or warmer from batch to batch. These are natural characteristics of handmade and botanical products, not defects; shade, size and grade are confirmed on sample approval.
Care & storage
- Keep in a dry place, away from damp walls, bathrooms and direct sunlight.
- Lift the ball from underneath rather than squeezing the surface pieces.
- Clean with a soft, dry brush; avoid wet cloths and sprays.
- Store in the original carton between uses so the covering is not crushed.
- Unpack promptly on arrival and let the pieces air in a dry room; avoid storing in sealed, humid packaging
